Week 3 from Apri 23 to 27.My experience during these days.....

All the time when I was a student (attending to school) I used to have specific material as students.
When I became a teacher, 28 years ago, I used to have special material to teach, only for teachers.
Today with the use of CALL applications, both students and teachers can learn.
Computer has been attractive for any student. Computer by itself motive students.
During this week when I started to do my homework, especially when I opened the delicious page, my first thought was, what is this? What for? As I saw many pictures on the page it creates confusion inside of me, and I got more confused when I started reading sports, technology, food, I asked myself where is the relation with the topic of this course?, Do I have to elaborate a commercial or designed something?
What I did not realize was the use of the website, until I read the instructions to create one. Wow! On that moment I felt safe!!
I started creating my delicious site, and now I can say that this is another amazing tool that I learnt in this course. I found it helpful for me. To paste  my favorite sites, but also I am planning to create another where my students can find sites that I recommend to them, including topics that have a relation with our course.

  1. Dear Andrea
    Good Morning from India.
It is overwhelming to share a word with person with such a huge experience.
But your views on use of CALL devices in classroom match with my experiences even in these days of Technological advances.
Though I did my PG in 2000, I never saw my teachers using CALL devices for language teaching.
The concept of its use dawned on me very late.
But the very practical use of the same gets hampered in face of frequent power-cuts.
Still I am hopeful that after this course I will be in better position to use these CALL devices in my class.
    Thanks for your views
    Bye

  2. Hello Andrea,

I agree with you: we are discovering so many things in such a short time! This is amazing. There are lots of great tools to explore and use in our classes!!
You also say something very important: how our teacher role has changed, in the past students learned and teachers taught because they had the knowledge, but now everybody learns. We as teachers learn every day, we don’t give knowledge, we share it with our students, colleagues, friends, etc., and this is a very enriching experience.
Last night I attended a lecture for parents about the use of information technologies nowadays, and the risks and danger that internet has for our children, but the message was clear: internet is not bad; the bad thing is not to know how to use it with responsibility. And this is what we are learning in this wonderful course: how to take the best of this wonderful world which is the web!!
    What do you think?

    Hello Andrea,

Thank you for sharing your blog.

Wisdom words are yours when mentioning: “Today with the use of CALL applications, both students and teachers can learn”. And wisdom will spread while posting and sharing our favorite sites. What should be great is to encourage our students and colleague teachers to learn a discriminating process to make the best selection.

Four decades ago officials from United Nations complained about the excessive quantity of printed material UN was publishing at that time, and argued that there was no time to simply read it all. Imagine now? A never-ending process. I think that a proper tag in our post on in Delicious page should help. What do you think?

    Regards,

    Fernando
