Now that I have been reading my
international classmates comments about the rules, I realize how important these
are. I have worked with blogs at my English class, fortunately I have never
have any problem, the point is that I did not use to give them rules, they are young adolescents ( teenagers
from 15 to 18) years old, they just
follow my instructions, and they have been respectful, but know I can realize
the importance of this issue, to teach them how to behave at the web, maybe
they are going to be surprised but I am sure that this topic is going to be so
helpful for their near future.

Hi Andrea, I agree that it's a good idea to teach our students good "netiquette." Putting ourselves our there for the world to see requires us to consider what we write and how in a very different way. I also find that setting class "rules" with students provides a sense of ownership that doesn't exist when the teacher is the only one setting the rules. Nice start on your blog!

Hello Andrea,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your blog. It seems you are committed to teaching.
I use to tell my students that rules are needed even for games… What should life be like without rules? Not precisely a pandemonium, but it is easy to follow rules, if they are respectful and do not invade our privacy, they make things easier and our teaching session flow like a spring in the forest…
Kind regards,
Fernando
Hi Andrea,
ReplyDeleteI just stopped by to see your blog. I am curious about how you actually used blogs with your students. Did you use it for reading, writing, speaking, listening? There is a new trendy word out there coined "Netiquette" - http://www.albion.com/netiquette/corerules.html
It may be helpful to learn more about internet codes of behavior, and share with students.
Best luck to you during the next 10 weeks.
Hello Andrea,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your blog.
The directions —or instructions, as you say— you give your students are some kind of rules on how to behave, either in classroom or at school. They are also the rules on how academic work must be submitted. Some rules are brought or taken from previous courses or schools. I presently have teenagers in my classes, but for years I have stated the Course Rules or Course Syllabus even when teaching at university. I think, as you do, that this issue will be helpful for your classes.
Kind regards from
Fernando
